Golden, crunchy, cheesy — and that marinara dip is everything. These crispy garlic butter chicken parmesan bites are the party appetizer that disappears first: juicy chicken coated in a garlicky parmesan crust, pan-fried until golden, then tossed in warm garlic butter and served hot with marinara for dipping. Ready in about 30 minutes, and just as good as a weeknight dinner as they are on a game-day spread.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch bites
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 1/2 cups panko breadcrumbs
- 1 cup finely grated parmesan cheese, divided
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil, for frying
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 cup marinara sauce, warmed, for dipping
Instructions
- Pat the chicken bites dry. Season with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Set up a breading station: flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in a second, and panko mixed with 3/4 cup of the parmesan in a third.
- Dredge each chicken bite in flour, dip in egg, then coat well in the panko-parmesan mixture, pressing gently so the crumbs stick.
- Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the bites in batches for 3–4 minutes per side, until deep golden and cooked through (165°F inside). Drain on a wire rack.
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, just until fragrant — don’t let it brown.
- Return the bites to the skillet and toss in the garlic butter until every piece is glossy. Shower with the remaining parmesan and the chopped parsley.
- Serve immediately with warm marinara for dipping.
Pro Tips
- Keep the bites in a single layer while frying — crowding the pan drops the oil temperature and softens the crust.
- For an air fryer version, spray the breaded bites with oil and cook at 400°F for 12–14 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Use finely grated parmesan, not shredded, in the breading — it melts into the crust instead of clumping.
- Make the garlic butter at the very end so it stays glossy and the garlic stays sweet, not bitter.
